If you are currently using McMyAdmin please make sure that you have installed Bukkit through the control panel itself. Please ensure this is completed before continuing with this tutorial.

To install Bukkit plugins on your sevrer there are a few concepts that must be understood. Bukkit is a server wrapper which needs to be installed and allows for plugins to add functionality to your server. After installing Bukkit a folder by the name of /plugins is created under your Minecraft server directory. All of your plugins MUST be placed in the /plugins folder in order to be functional and work. For those that are not familiar with SFTP, how exactly do I add plugins?

Connecting via SFTP

To add plugins, you must know how to connect via SFTP. You may read this article to learn how to connect. By default your Minecraft server folder will be located under /minecraft/Minecraft/ which is starting from the top directory /.

Final Steps

If you've connected via SFTP, congratulations! You've managed to complete this hardest step and it is matter of uploading the plugins to your server directly now. If you didn't know already a Bukkit plugin will be in a .jar format and can be downloaded at: http://dev.bukkit.org/. Once downloaded it is a matter of placing them in the /plugins folder and for the majority of plugins, restarting your server after.
